Learning outcomes of the course unit:

To open to the students the opportunity to experiment with sound and not with the use of a synthesizer with software playback, but rather physical playing a musical instrument.

Mode of study:

Module itself begins at 13:00 and may last into the late hour - depending upon the personal involvement of the students and their desire for sythesis. Work in the module will be completed by a writing completed at home of 3666 characters including spaces on the use of artificial sound in the student's life, surroundings and the world in general.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

This module is intended for beginners as well as advanced students in sound sythesis.

Course contents:

Basics of sound synthesis, its most simple form - subtractive synthesis. Sound synthesis on a Moog Voyager.

Recommended or required reading:

No study materials are prescribed.

Place: HAMU, Music Acoustics Research Center, Malostranske Nam. 13.

Assessment methods and criteria:

100% attendance and a writing of 3666 characters, including spaces, dealing with the use of artificial sound in the life of the student, their surroundings and in the world in general.
