Learning outcomes of the course unit:

a) A thorough introduction to the main development current of music history of the 20th century.

b) Instruction focuses, primarily, on the basics of compositional dodecaphony methods,

c) probability principles and minimal music principles.

d) It traces, particularly in this, that the student exhausts all impulses for innovation in one's music language.

Mode of study:

2 hours/week, lecture, exercises

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Knowledge from the previous semester.

Recommended optional programme components:

Independent study corresponding to the music literature. Listening experience and listening analysis.

Course contents:

a) Thorough introduction to the main development currents in music history of the 20th century.

b) Instruction focuses primarily on the fundamentals of dodecaphonic composition methods, serial and modal procedures

c) Probability principles and minimal music principles.

d) Monitoring that the students employ all impulses in innovation in their music language.
