Learning outcomes of the course unit:

a) Presentation of student's own works

b) Discussions on the presented works

c) Presentation of information about current events and discussions evaluating events.

d) Performance and presentation of guests' works.

e) Discussions about questions in technique, aesthetics and other aspects of musical composition.

Mode of study:

Moderated discussion, discussion, student composition score analysis

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

a) knowledge of composition issues at the necessary level

b) sufficient knowledge of music theory

c) corresponding forulating skills

d) active overview of contemporary music events

Recommended optional programme components:

None

Course contents:

An inseparable group element of the main study. Presentation of student compositions, refining of viewpoints on the sense, mission, current trends and techical issues of composition. Development of the independent ideas, analytical skills and well-qualified discussion skills of young composers.

Recommended or required reading:

Scores and recordings of covered compositions.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

Program according to current offerings, ex. lectures, presentations and workshops by foreign guests.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Class participation, performance quality and participation in discussion are evaluated.
