Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The course aim is the adoption knowledge and practical skills in working with an opera ensemble in all stages of opera production preparations.The particulars of study of individual elements of an opera ensemble. Application of interpretation intentions in collaboration with other co-creators of a production (director, designer, choreographer).

Attendance at opera rehearsals and performances.

Course contents:

Adoption of knowledge and skills in working with an opera ensemble in all phases of opera production. A study of the particulars of the individual elements of an opera ensemble. Application of interpretation intentions in working with other production co-creators (director, artists, choreographer).

Preparation and performance of the opera or operatic output is possible with a small chamber ensembles or with only piano accompaniment.

Recommended or required reading:

Operas are selected according to the opera study dramaturgy plan and includes works of various style periods and content (from chamber operas to works requiring large numbers of soloist, orchestra and choir performers)

Assessment methods and criteria:

Instructor and student attendance at opera performances and subsequent evaluation in class. Credit.
