Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Students should master, during study of conducting from the piano, the basic sections of the Czech choral repertoire and have an overview of world choral pieces from all basic style periods.

Course contents:

Management of fundamental parts of a Czech choral literature and gaining an overview of world choral works of all basic style periods.

Recommended or required reading:

Choral works by B. Smetany, Pavla Křížkovského, J.B.Foerstra.

Study of classical domestic polyphony (Jan Campanus Vodňanský, Kryštof Harant z Polžic) and foreign (Lasso, Palestrina, Vittoria, Hassler).

Choral works by L. Janáček, Josef. Suk, V. Novák, B.Martinů and contemporarie.

Choral works of the Czech and world Baroque.

Choral works of the Romantic and Impressionistic periods.

Choral works of significant composers of the 20th century. (Stravinskij, Poulenc, Britten).
