Good knowledge of the fundamental repertoire of the period (including Czech works), good bearing in less popular works of the period.

Watching relevant performances, TV broadcast recordings, DVD screenings.

Course contents:

Verdi, Wagner and his „Gesamtkunstwerk,“ grand opera, national culture, Verismo, R. Strauss, impressionism, Song and Cantata works of the period.

Recommended or required reading:

As last semester, additionally, various collections of opera works.
