Learning outcomes of the course unit:

This course provides students with an awareness of orchestral literature and practices the most important solos the orchestra musician may encounter. In all the courses, all composers and their important solos for the tuba are gradually introduced. This course works with orchestral studies, both domestic and international editions and specialized Czech orchestra parts (ČF, FOK, SOČR, ND).

Instrument skills at the level corresponding to the study year and student profile.

Recommended optional programme components:

Chamber literature in wind duets and trios.

Course contents:

This course provides students with knowledge of orchestral literature and practices the most important solos which an orchestra member may encounter. Each course gradually introduces all composers and their important tuba solos for orchestra. This course practices the orchestra studies by - Hoza, Meschke, Grigoriev and Czech Philharmonic parts.

Recommended or required reading:

Basic symphony repertoire of Romaticism II.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

Participation of students in auditions for symphonic and opera orchestras.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Evaluation of instrument and orchestra playing, completion of the established repertoire, AKS verification, all concluded with the award of credit.
