Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Fingering technique preparation, intonation security, rhythmic sensitivity, tone and breath quality and performance imagination are instructed using the most demanding etudes. Recital compositions are oriented towards pivotal trumpet repertoire

1.The most technically, in embouchure, rhythm, and breath demanding etudes. Precise management of intonation and technique are monitored - J. Kolář, S. Friedman

2. Double staccato is instructed to all students.

3. Pivotal Trumpet recital compositions = J. Francaix, B. Martinů.

Mode of study:

Systematic stage pracitce in solo creations, chamber ensembles and smaller or symphonic orchestras. Regular performance in the Interpretation Course and recording of individual instrument classes.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Instrument skills at the level corresponding to study year and student profile.

Recommended optional programme components:

Chamber literature in duets, trios and other combinations of wind, string, keyboard and percussion instruments.

Course contents:

The trumpet is an instrument in many music ensembles. This course provides the student with all skills necessary to play the instrument. This course must guide the student to the final bachelor's course. All work with the student is connected to the bachelor's graduation concert and the bachelor's diploma thesis. A topic and appropriate repertoire are sought. Etudes are selected in their technique, embouchure and breathing aspects to present the greatest technical challenge to the student. - J. Kolář, C. Perrin. The student achieves refined fingering technique with the ablility to maintain any tone. The sound quality must fulfill the requirements of all style periods. The intonation level must bear the greatest demands. A personal approach is necessary. The repertoire reflects the interest of the student and become the visit card. It is necessary, however, to go through pivotal competition repertoire - J. Francaix, B. Martinů, S. Friedman, Concerto in E Major of J. Haydn on the B as well as E flat trumpet. It is best when the diploma thesis is on a topic of great interest to the student and enables the widest and highest quality.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

On-going student participation in chamber music competitions and symphonic and opera orchestra auditions.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Student performance is assessed in all aspects. First, the composition played is analysed and individual pitfalls of performance are defined. How the student managed these issues is evaluated. The playing level in the technical, intonation, sound, dynamic and performance aspects are not omitted.
