Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Students improve their orientation in the works of Czech and foreign choreogaphers from the 1980s and 90s in relations to the Czech dance scene.

Mode of study:

Lecture, analysis of media recordings, exercises, attending relevant performances.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Knowledge of material from previous lectures, exercises and classes.

Recommended optional programme components:

A recommended elective element is participation in a class and workshop arranged by another professional institution.

Course contents:

Students are introduced to the development of the Prague Chamber Ballet repertoire after 1989. Using examples students enrich their movement vocabulary of choreographyers who have worked with the Prague Chamber Ballet; Gerhard Bohner, Jiri Kylian, Robert North, Christopher Bruce and choreographers who have left the Prague Chamber Ballet; Petra Zusky and Petra Tyce.

As well the approaches to music of Pavel Šmok an Jiři Kylián, who frequently used the same music work, are compared.

The dance sequences are technically very difficult and require longer study.
