Learning outcomes of the course unit:

To introduce basic information about theatre operations management, creation of a production budget

To introduce basic information about fundraising in general and grant possibilities from the most common donators.

To introduce the basics of marketing

To introduce the basics of copyright

Mode of study:

Lecture, Sample study analyses, discussion, writings, visiting and analysing theatre performance operations, management and fundraising.

Attending a theatre performance

Discussion - managing theatre performance analysis.

Introduction to management

Proper forms of theatre and theatre projects

Budget creation

Introduction to fundraising

Preparation for grant requests based on performance viewing

Introduction to marketing

Preparing marketing strategy based on performance viewing

Production and distribution of a theatre product

Introduction to copyright.

Introduction to copyright contract issues.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Credit is awarded based on:

- attendance and participation in class

- submission of the course paper

Participation in class discussions is required. The exam is oral. The overall grading is comprised of 20% for class participation, 60% for the oral exam and 20% for the course paper.

Conditions for successfull completion of the course; class participation, completion of the course paper, passing of the oral exam.
