Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The purpose of the course is to develop listening skills and primarily listening memory in sound color and a sensitivity to a change in color and other properties of music sounds.

Mode of study:

Media recording samples.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Knowledge of sound technology, music acoustic and electro-acoustics.

Course contents:

Parametric filters and format areas

Level changes, time changes and phase relationships in stereophonic signals

M/S stereophonic signal processing

Errors in stereophonic recordings: brums, noises, DC components, word clock, analog overexcitement, clipping

lost compression artefacts
