Learning outcomes of the course unit:

1. To acquaint doctoral candidates with comprehensive music piece analysis.

2. To contribute to the expansion of the research parameters in the analytical section of the dissertation.

Mode of study:

Instruction, moderated discussion, discussions, composition analysis, writings analysis.

Course contents:

Completion and presentation of a paper on an agreed topic related to the topic of the dissertation. Completion of a topically related analytical study of 10-20 standard pages (not including footnotes and appendices). The study should contain the formal requirements for a research writing and offered for publication in the music theory periodical Ziva Hudba (AMU Praha publisher) or in another research periodical.

Credit is awarded based on the presenation of a paper and completion of a topically related semester paper which is to be in the form of a scientific study of 10-20 standard pages (footnotes and appendices). The exam is an oral interview verifying the knowledge of the given topic and recommeded literature.
