The starting point of the course is the reading of selected dramas with attention to not only the content but also the structure, dialogue structure, chronotope and genre. A subsequent detailed analysis opens various possible interpretations. Completing the process is a gradual investigation of one's own interpretation, projected onto a dramaturgic-directorial concept which acquires a particular form including the casting. Work during the course proceeds in the following stages:
1) Reading a drama: students need to be instructed in noticing individual drama situations, recognize their motivation structure, dialoge structure, writers work with the chronotope, manner of presenting individual figures and the genre mood.
2) Detailed analysis of individual drama situations opening up various possible interpretations
3) Subsequent consideration of various possible interpretations in the context of the whole play.
4) Accenting individual significances and motives and the need for dramaturgical modifications arising from them.
5) Creation of the dramaturgy-directing concept of a text, and not from preliminary speculations.
6) Investigating potential of how to implement the dramaturgy-directing concept.
7) Considerations of the spatial treatment.
8) Variations in casting
9) Hierarchy of individual elements and production rhythm.
