Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The goal of the class is conscious development (cultivation) of the stage sense of directors, dramaturges, theorists and critics with respect to discovering the (dramatic) potential of a text based on the example of a chosen scene/situation that they play out in time and space (i.e. production interpretation), with the use of the individual (basic) components of stage expression and their representatives in mutual dialogue.

Mode of study:

This course combines exercises with the course provides directing, dramaturgy, stage design, theory and criticism, introducing the basics of a scene „from within“: for this concept within whose framework is directed toward induction, that is, assistance in interpreting a scene whos writers are the students themselves in appropriate roles (that is the director, dramaturg, set designer, actors.)

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

1) Knowledge of theatre culture types and history.

2) Mastery of basic theatre concepts.

3) Overview of contemporary theatr

Recommended optional programme components:

Monitoring Theatre news, progressive stagings and films, excellent acting performances.

Course contents:

The 2nd semester goes from choosing scenes/situations from finished (classic and contemporary) texts to their specific interpretation (i.e. interpretation leading to discovering their staging/dramatic possibilities with definite actors in a definite directing/stage design environment) and their playing out in time and space. This playing out is again for development of the students' stage sense, including dramatic feel as its other aspect. It is the gradual realization of this connection (staging and the dramatic) that allows the composing of the appropriate scene/situation not only from its visual aspect and „internal feel“, but also in the connection of the level based on senses with the level of potential sense (the „internal theme“). Each student contributes towards the fulfilment of the chosen task according to the chosen specialization, leading in the case of directing, stage design and dramaturgy, in which the participating theorists also take part, to the creating of a staged image relating to the (overall) „opinion“ by a controllable external check; that „external“ viewpoint, of course, is supplemented by a view point „from within“, enlivened by an appropriate degree of empathy and also directly developed by participation in the „acting“ part of creation (but this is not required). Any going beyond the narrowly defined limits given by the specialized role, naturally attained during mutual dialogue about the whole, contributes towards the further developemtn of feel for teamwork, not only with respect to the specialization in question, but also for individual creative potential and natural authority.
