Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Theory study with topics for the final master's thesis.

Mode of study:

Classes on selected master's projects. Study of source material in archives and museum collections (particularly the Theatre Institute, National Museum Theatre Dept, National Theatre Archives, etc.).

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

203DSF1,2 lectures and classes.

Recommended optional programme components:

Visits to contemporary productions and subsequent analysis from a scenic design viewpoint.

Course contents:

Demonstrated knowledge of the basics of working with source material, use of knowledge o the development of set design, particularly in film and television. Application of knowledge of trade writings dealing with the genesis of a given drama.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

Analysis of contemporary productions from the viewpoint of knowledge of traditional scenic design methods. Practical application of trade terminology. Visits to exhibitions and subsequent classes on methods applied in fine arts exhibitions (exhibition content, scientific contributions, exhibition critique, architectural treatment, graphics, lighting, etc.)

Assessment methods and criteria:

75% class attendance, independent creation of the final master's thesis (approx. 20 pages of text).
