Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The goal is a mastery of costuming in all forms of theatre (drama, opera, ballet), film and television. A graduate in set-design-costuming and mask is able to independently create costuming (costume design) for all forms of theatre, film and TV and work in non-theatrical production.

Mode of study:

Studio individual consultations on assigned dramas. Inspirations and costuming execution potential. Theory lectures related to topic assignments.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Ability in artistic communication, drama arts expression and conceptual thinking. Knowledge of the fundamental form of historical clothing and basic materials for creating costumes. Ability to work with a drama, its formulation, defining its importance and meaning.

History of Scenic design - theatre costuming

Design construction

Implementation practice. Working on one's project including theatre and film costumes.

Course contents:

The programmes and instruction at the Masters' level are individual. The curriculum is created for the Masters' project and taking into account the dramaturgical plan for the DISK theatre.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

Consultations on an assigned topic, lectures and exercises related to individual assignments, consultation and guidance in the implementation of costuming objects and DAMU theatre implementation of costuming narration.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Credit is awarded based on:

Independent work in the studio and a minimum of 80% attendance at consultations (classes) throughout the semester.

continuity in work,

bearing in historical clothing,

drama and conceptual thinking skills, comprehensive treatment of the costuming setting,

costuming proposal implementation skills,

artistic quality of the proposal and its presentation in the summary exam,

imagination and creativity skills.
