The course aim is to open the road to a knowledge of literary types, genres and genre variations in literature for children and youth.
1. Introduction to the roots of literature for children and youth and the origins of works intended for children.
2. Introduction to folklore as an important source for literature for children.
3. Understanding of the specificity of literature for children and youth and place of creation for children and youth in a nationwide context.
5. Recognition of the dramatic and drama education potential of a literary work for children and youth.

1. Successfull completion of the first semester course „History of Literature for Children and Youth.“
2. Completion of „Chapters in Literary History.“
3. Knowledge of general literary history at the pre-college level.
4. Ability to perceive various components and merits of a text.

- Course contents:

This course provides the basic phases of the development of Czech and world literature for children and youth and the changes in its genre composition. The development of literature for children and youth is set into the context of nationwide and world literature, traces the development of the basic phases of Czech literature for children and youth, presents issues of verbal folklore with a consideration of literature for children and youth, offers basic knowledge of world literature for children and you and introduces key persons and works.
