- Course contents:

This course covers a research of the relation of music to drama, their interactivity, as well as issues of structure and the mutual creation of both elements. This course attempts to identify not only common interfaces but the differences and particulars of each in individual models of music-drama considerations based on historical development and then to apply this knowledge in practice. The general section will be and introduction to the development of modern European music - approx. from Montiverdi to the present with an emphasis on the historical requirements of music-drama considerations of the artists in various periods. This covers the distinction of styles, forms, selected media and manner of interpretation. Also the student is to acquire a glimpse into modern European graphic arts, particularly the relationships to music-drama genres. The general section instruction is distributed over 4 semesters. The material in each semester corresponds to one of four basic geographically defined currents in European music thought.
