The course is to prepare students for their main work during the 2nd year of Bachelor's study at the Scriptwriting and Editing Dept. - a feature-length adaptation. A script for a short adaptation is the result.

The course is a moderated discussion of classical adaptations (ex: J. Němec, F. Vláčil, A. Wajda, and others), but primarily on bases and successful and unsuccessful adaptation projects at the Scriptwriting and Edition Dept. in the past and a cultured dramaturgy of a short adaptation. The semester task is a short adaptation. The instructor assigns a story which all students adapt according to their skills and edit under the guidance of the instructor.

Credit is awarded for class participation (creative work on a dramaturgy analysis, discussion), and maximum attendance. The short adaptation is grading is separate.
