Course contents:

carnival of The aim of the course is a dramaturgical analysis of Kira Muratova's film The Asthenic Syndrome (1989) which belongs to a remarkable handfull of films which rose out of the chaos of the crumbling Soviet empire and that crumbling and chaos are reflected topically and formally. This year Kira Muratova will be 80 years old. It has been 25 years since the premiere of The Asthenic Syndrome. This anniversary offers a rememberance of this exceptional artist and an assessment of her work which in this film displays precision in this period and a tragic carnival of the ruins of the epoch it depicts.

...a hypothesis comes from chaos, in which all combinations are possible, into which the detective is thrown and whic at first is simple without exit. - Miroslav Petříček

If you don't know how to explain it simply, then you don't understand it well enough. - Albert Einstein

Everything is zga - Ivan Matoušek

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

The examination will be subjected to particular work with plot diversions and the chronology of everyday life, such as the collapse of an epoch of historical time forming expression in the collapse of linear film time. In the fall of an epoch into chaos, there is no appearance of the description of historical events, but laconically through the body, through asthenia of the organizm in a state of crisis - chaos (in the sense of exhaustion of too many life changes, historical changes in reflection). Defined will be primarily those procedures Murat the perceiver mediates the experience of ecstasy mingled with anxiety (that feeling close to the turn of the epoch „end of the world“), arising from the frustrating indeductibility of events that fuel intensified destructive and constructive forces.
