- Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Ability to perceive and set particular narrative processes into a historic context in the development of film language and its impact on the form of modern film narration.
Perception of one's own path with film in a context linked to tradition. Ability to perceive the film/script which the student is working on in a context of one's path. Particulars for scriptwriting studentswill be an approach to film directing as an adaptation art and in the sense of a visual motive of the final „transfer“ script.

A basic bearing in the history of cinematography. Ability to set into a period context. Knowledge of analysed films and literary bases. Class participation and knowledge from the recommended literature / literary bases.

Films of Elia Kazan. History of Cinema. Staging of Shakespear tragedies.
- Course contents:

Series of lectures/analysis screenings „Cinema“. Students are acquainted with the life of selected filmmakers through their films. „Cinema“ presents works whose basic manner has influenced the manner of film narration in relation to the period context and the personal development and fate of the creator.

Each lesson is comprised of two screenings of films accompanied by commentary focused on the previously specified elements and subsequent discussion.
