Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Students are acquainted with the basic television formats and genres. It attempts to develop a selected format in a genre into a subject and synopsis under the guidance of an experience instructor, an artist who has original and directing experience. The results of the coursework may be continued by the students and possibly brought to a possible useable form. The course prepares students for fugure scriptwritingng practice, moving towards the learning the trade and as well to the maintenance of creative original artistic starting points.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Personal intensive participation of the students during the entire course. Working in a creative original group under the guidance of teaching assistant and instructor.

Course contents:

Development of television series genre formats. Intensive creative course focused on practical scriptwriting and applied genre dramaturgy. During the course the students are acquainted with dramaturgy procedures in the creating of a viable subjects and synopsis for a television series. The various genres and formats, such as sit-com, Brit-com, soap opera, saga, survival drama, episodic detective series, etc. are introduced. Their implementation and dramaturgy differences and requirements are introduced. As well the students attempt in groups themselves under the guidance of the instructor to create the subject and synopsis of an assigned topic and in a particular genre for a defined television format.

Brief lecture on the issues a scriptwriting workshop focused on a collective piece.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Credit and credit points are award based on completing the entire course and specific material which is the result of the group creative piece.
