Overview of the main thought trends about film. Acquaintance with canonic writings in the main film theory currents. Preparation of one's graduation theory paper.

The bachelors theory paper, methodology class obligatory for the FAMU bachelor's study (or similar at other academies, colleges). Willingness to review a film (primarily the scriptwriting and dramaturgy elements) from various angles and discussion in class.

- Course contents:

The aim of the course is to introduce the students to the theory, methods and procedures in writing a thesis. After a general introduction to issues are regular individual consultations.
Curriculum:
1) Selection of the defined topic - its explication
2) Collection of material, bibliographic research - including internet search and use of professional databases, in principle the development of a list of sources and writings used
3) Citation methods, unification of presented data
4) Significance and proposal of an outline /introduction, body, conclusion
5) Recommended extent of the thesis, Czech and English summaries

- Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

Acquaintance with trends in film thought in introductory lectures linked to more in depth reviews of readings in group discussions where additional topics in relation to the idea of the graduation paper for students arise.
- Assessment methods and criteria:

Regular (70%) attendance and participation (assignments - readings, joining in discussions). At the close - formulation of the graduation paper topic.
