A panopoly of interesting film samples with analyses in subsequent discussions may assist (we hope) the attentive attendee to find their own creative signature

Basic knowledge of documentary film genres.

Analytical skills for individual components of a film.

Course contents:

This course is designed as a comparative course whose aim is an attempt to define the boundaries of individual genres in documentary film.

Through a rich screening of examples from the works of distinctive filmmakers who in uncustomarily and expressively enriched film. Other makers can be seen in the manifestation of new expressive potential.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

This course is designed as a comparative course whose aim is to attempt a definition of the borders between individual genres in documentary film.

During the screening of many examples of important filmmakers who in non-traditional manners significantly enriched film thought, it is possible to see other artists in the discovery of new possibilities in expression.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Credit is awarded based on the development and submission of an film analysis paper.

Further, active participation in class.

Overall grading is comprised of 35% for class activity, 30% for the written section of the exam and 35% for attendance.
