Lecture content:

This module is devoted to modern and particularly future trends in the electronic image recording and reproduction areas. After a summary of the characteristics of image sensors and the human eye as an image sensor, individual types of electronic image sensors are described and mutual comparisons of their characteristics are performed. Likewise, individual types of image displays are described with mutual comparisons from the viewpoint of characteristics.

2. CCD sensors - prinicples, characteristics, trends

3. CMOS sensors - principles, characteristics, trends.

4. FOVEON sensors - principles, characteristics, trends

5. Parameter comparisons of image sensors and film

6. The latest generation of image sensors for photography, CCD vs. CMOS

7. Image display basic functions

8. LCD displays - principles, characteristics, trends

9. Discharge (plasma) panel displays - prinicples, characteristics, trends

10. DMD displays - prinicples, characteristics, trends

11. New types of displays - OLED, FEC

12. Comparison of displays.
