The module aim is to acquaint FAMU production students with the fundamental factors which have had influence on the changes of the media in the Czech Republic over the last 25 years. The presentation will be supplemented with examples from practice which will provide the students with a better glimpse into the issues covered. Subsequent discussions will allow module participants a unique opportunity to talk with the important socioligists and philosophers, Václav Bělohradský a Jaromír Volk about their views on the current status of the media in society marked by the word „post-modern.“

The media in the Czech Republic have undergone, in the past 25 years significant changes of which a part of may be considered an element of the transformation which occured upon the fall of the authoritarian regime at the end of 1989. No less, a fundamental part of these change has deeper roots, mentioned by the sociologist and philosopher, Václav Bělohradský in his essays Příliš střízlivýma očima I. a II. (Too Much a Clear View I and II). Lecture content and subsequent discussions will be an anlysis of these changes and their consequences for the media and the society as a whole.
