The course aim is to introduce students to editing as the final stage in the process of creating an audiovisual piece and as well the function of editing in the creation of its structure. During the course students will investigate the relationships among individual structural components from which the work is formed. Students will analyse the relationship of the work's content to form by which the piece was implemented.

Film screenings and subsequent discussions guided with a view to an analysis of the editing and comparison of approaches used in the film works.

Part of the course will be: analysis of the structure of an audiovisual work, selection of narrative with an analysis of the potential for its adaptation into a film screenplay.
Grading: Credit based on more than half class attendance and submission of the course paper, film analysis, transfer of a narrative or a part into a screenplay.

Credit is awarded based on attendance - 80% of the total number of class hours, and furthermore the presentation of an analysis of the editing of a selected film. If the required attendance is not attained, credit is awarded for the completion of an assigned course paper.
