Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The course aim is an acquaintance with digital workflow preparations for printing materials from arranging photo documentation for sample examination (characteristic markings of materials and their damage) through their editing, color correcting to publishing image material and texts with texts using PDF/X files for print.

Course contents:

The study content is the creation of photograph reproductions, macroscopic and microscopic photography, classes of light sources, measurement of light color, Color models CIE XYZ, CIE Lab, color diversions - E basics of color management - ICC profiles, monitor calibration and profiling, desktop printers, scanners; use of ICC profiles in Adobe CS 4 (or CS5); basics of archiving digital data; preparing materials for print in Adobi InDesign; exporting correct PDF files intended for (polygraphic) printing. PostScript, PS export,; PDF/X file managment in Adobe Acrobat.

Image documentation of examined examples and their publication in print for color management with text for PDF/X type files.
