Review of fashion and portrait photography in the context of contemporary work and the shifting of the borders of traditional commercial photography. During the course are planned discussions with art directors of the DolceVita and Elle magazines over students' work and presentations of important Czech photographers.

- Course contents:

This course is focused on the development and trends in contemporary fashion and portrait photography and presents the most important figures of contemporary fashion and portraiture. An important part of the course will be discussions over the social context of fashion and the influence of that on photography. Contemporary photography is a part of the wide spectrum of social influences whose cross-section creates our collective perception. We constantly encounter effective communication strategies whose idea and communication is linked to entertainment. Entertainment is not the direct goal but is an effective means in which the information content is more digestible, popularizes it and asserts it.
Practice: The course is divided into two series.
A) Winter semester - two week assignment with individual topics focused on the idea and quality of technical processing of the assigned topic.
B) Summer semester - Exhibition project
Consutations and critiques of the work will take place in group classes.
The project outcome in the Summer semester will be designed by the student as an exhibition collection on a selected or assigned topic.

Credit and the exam are awarded based on: the evaluation of the submitted paper with consideration of the idea, quality of technique and maintenance of the original assignment.
An important criterium for a grade is the student's participation in at least 60% of lectures and group consultations.
