Course description:

The course will be devoted to the practical role of photography in the contemporary world.

This course is conducted in two mutually diffuse levels - potential in presentation of photography in a context of modern art and group discussions of exhibitions visited and one's own photography collection. The topics discussed will develop from current exhibition policies of individual institutions, their social and political situations (selection, exceptional events, etc.) and submissions of student work.

Directly on site, at exhibits, students are introduced to the activity of the exhibit curator and artistic collections, individual institutions (museums, galleries, art halls) and photo festivals, types of exhibit catalogues, and exhibit organization preparations. The course will methodologically prepare students to write the master's thesis, portfolio preparations, etc.

Students will be guided to independent thought and knowledge, skills in critical approaches to art and the surrounding world, and accepting of the responsibility of an artist for their work. Various approaches in the perception of art from the viewpoint of the artist, exhibitor and public will be displayed.
