The purpose of the course is to further students' knowledge of the history of European music and the basics of music theory. The lecturers are accompanied by music samples of the individual music styles discussed. Students should be able to orient themselves in elementary music terminology, identify the music periods in which individual compositions originated, and understand the techniques of composition and musical forms.
