Learning outcomes of the course unit:

An understanding of the fundamental principles of building a gag in film and theatre from the simple to the well-structured.

Mode of study:

Intensive instruction in a module taking place a UVS Poněšice. Practical experience in building gags is part of the instruction.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

This course is intended for all students who have at least simple directorial or acting experience in filmo or theatre.

Group maximum is 15 students.

Course contents:

Gag je jedním ze základních vyjadřovacích prvků animovaného filmu. Tento výukový modul se zabývá teorií i praktickou realizací gagu.

Analýza a stavba gagu je předmět, který na základě teoretických informací o postupech práce gagmanů v několika filmových formách, přivede studenty k vlastní praktické zkušenosti s vizuální komedií.

Zlatá éra americké němé filmové grotesky

Pocit směšného v realitě

Pojem GAG a jeho formy

Gagmani a herci

Analýza grotesek nejvýznamějších komiků

Rozvoj komických forem během celé filmové historie

Originalita interpretace

Kapacita gagu a její síle odpovídající čas provedení

- praktické kamerové cvičení před i za kamerou

- literární scénář strukturovaného gagu

American Grotesque film files from the golden era of silent film

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

Film presentations. Theory analyses. Writer-interpreter exercises.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Evaluation criteria are originaltiy, accuracy, creativity and intuition.

Group of 15 students max. This will be an adventurous journey into the depths of visual comedy from when it was the real king of film and though to surrealistic humor.

Come and see that the work of a gagman is an anarchistically simple and loaded with joy and great potential for entertaining a wide audience.
