Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Investigating ways of classifying human characters. Defining step of how it is possible to work on the creation of a particular character in theatre and film.

Special work for animated film.

Mode of study:

Intensive module course at UVS Poněšice.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

This module is intended primarily for students of animated film direction, but also for other direction studies at FAMU and DAMU.

Course contents:

Though exercises, this study brings students closer to and broadens their sense of movment expression from the viewpoint of an actor. Creating gesture in time and space, their main indications, body build, gesture and mimicry. Classifying poise and gesture according to characters and emotions and their use in playing a scene.

Exploring ways of expressing a characters and a the living, puppets and other objects.

Classifying human types and archetypes in various theatre styles.

Comparing approaches to character acting depending on the animated film style and expression manners used.

Screenings, analyses of screened films, classes, discussion, subject exercises.

Credit conditions: ex. 3 credits for 100% participation.
