Learning outcomes of the course unit:

a) Be able to consider audience skills, interpreting my images and abilty to do self-reflection on audience reactions.

b) Investigate visualized actors actions and reactions (situations) serving a consistent whole.

c) Research the most appropriate processes for a literary screenplay.

Mode of study:

Dialogues, discussions, analyses of the works of various authors, film presentations.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Basic requirements:

- presenting an understanding of animation and presenting previous writer, screenwriter and director performances.

- concurrent registration to other courses is not required but significant work on storyboards is recommended.

Recommended optional programme components:

No prerequisites.

Course contents:

This is a course for III year baccalaureate students in the Animation Dept. and also for others interested in refining skills in managing a comprehendible language of images achieveable under FAMU production conditions as well as co-productions in more advanced workplaces.

Recommended or required reading:

a) Animated films by our renowned creators: Barta, Pojar, Švankmajer, Trnka, Zeman

b) „Fundamentals of Editing Composition“ Základy střihové skladby, J. Valušiak

c) Types of sound composition in animated film (bachelor's students' papers of the Sound dept. at the library.).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

The workshop more or less specializes in the resolving of issues connected with the completing a „so-called“ puppet film and the combination of reality with animation.

Assessment methods and criteria:

A dialogue with the screenwriter and lecturer about working on the bachelor's film and eventual collective discussions with all students. In particular, the active relationship to the acting work position and ability to work on a film with an idea of its sound element is evaluated.
