Sound makes up 50% of the resulting impression in an animated film. Often among students (at the Animation and Sound Depts.) there is a lack of information about the sound preparations for an animated film. This class is to uncover the procedures and manners of communication between the sound designer and the director which heighten the quality of the resulting film

The clas will cover primarily these topics:

How is the sound for an animated film different from a feature film?

How can sound influence the overall film dramaturgy and why does it makes sense to work with the sound designer in the preparations of an animated film?

What is animation and what is the contribution of the sound in production?

What are the common pitfalls in the creation of the sound element for an animatedfilm and how to anticipate them?

Why is it important to bring the sound designer to the editing room?

Working with the music composer and the function of music in animated film vs. the collaboration of the music composer with the sound designer.
