Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The aim of the course is an introduction to the basic production and post-production tools of audio-visual pieces.

Mode of study:

General explication followed by work at the computer based on materials and examples.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

None. Recommended for all students. Required in the 1st year.

Linked to Audiovisual Technology 2 in the Summer semester.

Course contents:

1. Multi-channel sound installation / 5.1 sound for film or video

Introduction to multi-channel sound and its particulars, it practical use in physical environments or in film.

Students can work individually or together on one project. Ideally a public presentation, or possibly the same presentation in IIM.

2. Exercise in the TV studio - (1 week) 8 hours + 8 hours in the studio

Introduction to the TV studio and three-camera system, live edit and recording. Students can work individually or on a common project.

Exercise: video (1-20min)

3. Basics of visual effects - (6 weeks), 6 x 4 hours.

The workshop is intended for everyone regardless of if you think or know that you know about working with images using modern technology. This course helps you understand what all this technology, buttons, sliders and toggles do. Important is the understanding of when to use these possiblilities

Grading is awarded based on independently completed homework assignments related to the material coveris in the semester (ex: web pages, DVD, complex projects in Photoshop, etc.)

Note:

The creation of this course is a reaction to long-term experience with student limits in or significant disproportional knowledge of the basic use and context of audio-visual technology. It is intended primarily for 1st year students in Audio-visual studies. Other students are welcomed if space allows.

Instruction is focused on an understanding of the relationships of and entry-level skills in working with HW and SW in developing image and sound. There are a number of examples for this topic on the internet. For instruction we have selected the most appropriate considering the needs of our students.
