Exercises in analytical skills and reflection upon a Critic's work.

This course places emphasis on practice, which is trying individual types and genres of analytical writing. The first three weeks of the semester, each student writes each week a short one page paper. Then each selects two or three types of texts which are submitted by a given due date. There are group discussions about individual papers.

The audio-visual analysis course will combine group considerations of basic types and issues of audio-visual analyses with exercises in analytical skills.
The first three short writings by students: First - summary of bsic procedures of argument, rhetorical, etc of some writing on an audio-visual piece - may be only notes - several points. Second two writings: critique and descriptive, evocative writing - at least one standard page.
Also, the students select two of the offered analysis methods (extent of each is to be three standard pages, which may cover any audio-visual piece selected). Each Monday beginning 10.11we will read 3-4 analyses as examples of individual methods written about audio-visual pieces.

Kredity za seminář jsou uděleny na základě odevzdání všech požadovaných textů a aktivní účasti na seminářích. Při známkování se zohledňuje i kvalita odevzdaných textů (více než „talent“ je nicméně oceňována snaha a pečlivost, s níž jsou texty napsány).
