Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Expansion of basic grammatic and lexical knowledge.

Ability to communicate in simple practical situations.

Basic vocabulary of the study area.

Mode of study:

Readings and text analysis, listenings, presentation and practice of grammar and lexical structures, moderated discussions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Knowledge from lower level (A2/1) course is required.

Recommended optional programme components:

No elective requirements.

Course contents:

Development of all language skills:

Reading of simple texts from the study subject.

Study subject terminology

Writing: short letter

Topics: free time, favorites, travel, invitations, apologies.

Grammar: articles, modal verbs in the present, present simple and continuous tenses, past tense, present perfect, future tense (phrases: going to, will)

This course is completed with an exam.

The requirements for taking the exam are: class participation, completion of assignments

The exam is in the form of a written test (cca. 45 min.) containing reading comprehension, grammar and vocabulary sections.

If the student is unable to attend instruction because of extenuating circumstances (internship, competitions, serious health problems), the instructor must be contacted to supply the materials and set a appointment for consultation. Otherwise, the student may not sit a test.
