Forma studia:

prezenční

Předpoklady a další požadavky:

Code/programming ? beginner level.

It would be great (but not mandatory!) if the participants know what Processing is, how a Processing sketch is structured and how to launch a simple sketch from it. However we will also look at techniques where the use of code is not required.

Technical requirements:

A laptop with Processing and Unity3D installed.

Obsah kurzu:

The concept of operative image was coined by media artist, Harun Farocki to describe images that ? do not represent an object, but rather are part of an operation ?. In other words, images are not only used as visualization for human vision, but also as a source of information for ? machine vision ?.

With the increased usage of surveillance technologies, digital warfare, medical imaging, to name but a few areas; images provide an important source of knowledge and insights from our physical world that can then be analysed (along other sources of data) by a machine and lead to crucial autonomous decision-making.

During this workshop, we will look at, and develop, simple examples of machine vision techniques (such as objects/facial detection, blob tracking, use of different web services helping with object detections) in order to understand the means behind operative images and how they can be used a source of information by a system.

The aim of the workshop is also to show participants how they can use these machine vision techniques so they can develop their own creative projects. Therefore, the workshop will be half about showing various techniques and how to use them and half about participants creating their own project.
