- Learning outcomes of the course unit:

a) Instruction links previously acquired knowledge in the technical potential of musical instruments and basic instrumentation and vocal arrangement.
b) Along with the analyses of examples in music history, students are shown the essence of individual modern musical instruments including the newest playing techniques.
c) In individual study students work on individual orchestration issues and choral arrangements. At the close students submit their extensive instrumentation of a selected solo work for symphony orchestra of a given instrumentation.

Knowledge of musical instrument studies.
- Course contents:

a) Introduction to the fundamental characteristics and potential of instruments.
b) Demonstration of individual instruments.
c) Basic rules of instrumentation and orchestration.
d) Analyses of scores from the viewpoint of instrumentation + exercises.
