Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Lectures over two semesters prepare pianists for professional teaching at all levels of elementary schools, performance courses, seminars and competition juries. Lectures are supplemented in each semester of Teaching Practice providing students, in individual lessons, potential independent teaching of pupils. This course leads to the state bachelor's exam for acquiring teaching qualification where the practical and theory level of the student performance is comprehensively assessed.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

1) 20 minute inspirational report over a selected study source in interpretation theory.

2) Demonstration of acquired knowledge in topic discussions selected at random.

Course contents:

The didactics are tied to all instructional procedures including the specification of methodological outputs and the quality of outputs in interpretive fields.The character of the main developmental period of keyboard and piano education. Basic aims of training a pianist and manners of instructing pupils. Applying the views of exceptional figures of the past into performance and education practice. Enlivening applicable thought of old masters to contemporary piano instruction. Use of history knowledge in the study of the original editions of compositions. Good bearing in difficulty and style aspects of the piano repertoire and relationships to developing viewpoints of piano playing from the viewpoint of the changes in the instrument, styles and aesthetic goals.
