Learning outcomes of the course unit:

This course introduces student to the basics of the Jose Limon technique, its basic priniciples: succession, opposition, fall-rebound, fall-recovery, suspension, isolation. Emphasis is place on a proper understanding of the principle from which this movement take arose.

In the instruction of this technique it is very important to constantly follow that the students don't create form but follow the principle of releasing potential energy and it conversion into kinetic energy.

Basic knowledge of dance technique. Ability to use imagination in movement.

Course contents:

Prepartory exercises, Concentration

The basis is a slow awareness of the anatomical structure of the body, the central axes, center, concentration of feeling the skeleton, and supporting elements of the body.

Concentration is combined thoughout the body with smooth breathing.

Fundamental technique elements.

We begin gradually teaching from the most simple preparatory exercises on the floor.

- lunge series

- drop in threes

Basic training according to Jose Limon technique principles

During this beginning phase the basics are learned. Individual components are practiced independently. More attention is devoted to the preparatory phase. Also, the structuring of the class is maintained: floor exercises, center exercises, across the floor exercises, variations a the end are not complicated.
