In the first semester the course is designed as an introduction to the aesthetics of music performance art (aesthetics of music performance arts).
The lectures focus on the issue of music as an art in which the concept of a artistic music work significantly distinquishes itself into two elements of its existence: 1) the graphic recording of a work of music in which the work exists only in its potential form and 2) the work of music in its unique sound realization (music performance, actualization). Czech music aesthetics (O. Hostinský, O. Zich, J. Zich) defined always in accenting the material side of the music, meaning an orientation to the aesthetic characteristics of its sound, or tone. Lectures are focused on a comparison and assessment of various performances (sound realizations) from the viewpoint of the graphic recording of the same piece of music.
