Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The aim of the course is to reinforce skills in independent critical thought, particularly with a view to the development of the diploma paper topic. This course is intended for Composition students.

Mode of study:

Moderated dialogue, discussions, analysis of recording media examples, text analyses.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Completion of „Music Aesthetics 2.“

Course contents:

This course is focused on the independent work of the students with music aesthetic texts and in judging a musical piece and performance in interpretation. The composition students' diploma theory paper is also consulted upon. This course is linked to instruction in general aesthetics and music aesthetics from the previous years.

This course will be further described according to the intentions of the composition students' diploma task of the given school year.

Recommended or required reading:

Music theory and aesthetic work is established specifically with a view to the composition students' diploma task topic.

Assessment methods and criteria:

75% attendance in the course and active participation in discussions.
