Learning outcomes of the course unit:

This course is instructed in to directions:

1) Theatre Improvisation

2) Dance Technique - contact improvisation

1) Theatre improvisation guides the students to the knowledge and development of the three elements of improvisation.

- improvisation as orginal

- Improvisation - a regular element of every regular acting performance.

- Improvisation - extraordinary dramatic works on stage on a topic.

The aim is an understanding and ability to react in each performance and to use improvisation in creating a staging.

2) Contact improvisation as a movement technique which relies on basic principles which characterize classic and modern dance, for example; prolonging movement, extending limbs and the whole body in large positions, raising the leg high and jumps attaining the maximum extent of movment using elasticity, finding elegance and maintaining lines of beauty. Contact improvisation investigates other potential in moving beyond the classic ballet vocabulary. We must prepare the dancer's body for new unusual manners of movement, new mechanisms and new considerations of movement using the method „Exploring Movement.“ This method contains many exercises for single students as well as pairs and groups.
