Students are introduced to the development of European music from the Renaissance to Classical.
1) Renaissance: a) Five generation Franko-Walloon polyphonic schools
b) Palestrina, Lasso
2) The Baroque: a) opera
b) instrumental music
c) Monteverdi
d) The French style
e) Bach, Haendel
3) Classicism: a) early Classicism
b) high Classicisim (Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven)
