Practical introduction to critical analysis, critical understanding of a text within a production form, monitoring the text-production relationship and transformations of the text within the staged form.

Continual short writing assignments - a final term paper (critical analysis of a text) with emphasis on transformations of the text
- Course contents:

The world of contemporary drama and its developmental tendencies. The form of the contemporary theatrical text. Tools of text analysis (Pavis, Eco, Vinaver). Critical approach to a production, critical approach to a text. Relationship between reading and producing a dramatic text.

Credit and the exam are awarded primarily based on participation thorughout the entire course. Another necessary condition for credit is completion of a paper (defended in a discussion), or completion of a test evaluating the students view and bearing in contemporary theatre events and writing ability (including a Czech spelling and grammar test).
