Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Students go through the sequential creative path during the production of an original film in the Report genre. From the cultivation of idea through the writing proposal, point screenplay to the completed form.

Materiál: 360m 16 mm B/W negative + daily work; 1x S-VHS and VHS

Sound material: mg perfo tape 16mm for mixing transfer max. 200 m; 1x DAT 65 or MDW 74, 1x CD-R

Image Technology: silent 16 mm camera (ARRI STANDARD, ECLAIR NPR, ECLAIR ACL)

Sound Technology: MINIDISC or magnetic cassette, Sony TCD

Editing: 30 freq.16 mm editing table, including log for sound post-production

Sound postproductione: selection and transfer of music or background noise, commentary recording; 1 frekvence; preparation and setting of mixing levels - digitální sound editing 2 freq; digital mix worktable 1frekvence; mix transfer to mg. 16mm + synchronization with image

Transfer: daily work 16mm - DV cam, DV cam - VHS and DVD, server to S-VHS with TC

Archiving: 16mm two-track (or also kk) - NFA, DV cam - Studio FAMU, VHS a DVD - Documentary Dept Video library

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Group intensive dramaturgy analyses of the report genre take place in the workshops. How to embody an idea in a film work? Original report = the maker depicts th situation. How to capture the „dramatic“ - everyday situation?

Course contents:

The workshop prepares the implementation of the Original Report. The first semester serves for the acquisition of fundamental film skills, verfication of motivation, investigating topics and script creation. The aim of the second semester is intensive consultations on the shooting and editing of the film. The purpose of the course is to guide the students through the process of the rise of a work and stimulate the development of their own film language in the report genre.
