An explanation of the principal notions will be followed by a closer focus on the different aspects of the profession of an independent producer in the European film industry at all stages of a film project: preparing promotional materials and defining the target group and potential markets; looking for the options of financing Czech / European films; an overview of suitable training and co-production markets; distribution on various platforms; and copyright issues in the field of cinema. We will get to know two types of grant applications in a hands-on approach. Everything will be illustrated with attractive examples drawn from personal experience and in more general terms. The screening of a feature fiction film and its case study in the last part of the course will bring all the elements together.
