Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Introduction to the phonetic, grammatic and lexical basics of the French language.

Abilty to react in simple everyday situations.

Mode of study:

Readings, listenings, presentation and practice of vocabulary and grammar structures, moderated dicussions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

This course is intended for student who have not previously studied the langauge.

Course contents:

Topics: Greetings, introductions

Grammar: definite and indefinite articles, noun gender, most frequent prepositions, 1st class verbs, auxilliary verbs, irregular verb 'aller', dependent possessive pronouns.

Topics and grammar correspond to Lessons 1-4 of the basic coursebook.

This course may be taken in the bachelor's study as the first foreign language.

The supplementary course „French Practice 1“ is recommended prior to this course.

If the student is unable to attend classes due to extenuating circumstances and has previously studied French, they are to register for Parallel 99 which excuses the student from course attendance. The student receives credit for the exam.
